IGNOU - which was established in 1985, incessantly strives to construct an inclusive knowledgeable society through comprehensive education. It has endeavored to boost the Gross Enrollment Ratio by imparting high-quality education through the Open and Distance Learning method. At first, in 1987 the University offered two academic courses that include Diploma in Distance Education and Diploma in Management with a total enrollment of 4528 learners. At present, IGNOU fulfills the educational requirements of millions of people in India and abroad. As on date the University caters the education needs of students in 36 alien countries with 21 Schools of Studies and a set-up of 67 regional centers, approximately 3,000 students’ study canters and 67 centers abroad. This Open University offers a number of doctorate, degree, diploma and certificate courses in various disciplines. It is equipped with adequate faculty members and teaching staff at its headquarters and regional study centers.
