The directive of the IGNOU is to:

·         Recommend high-class, inventive and necessity-based courses at different levels, to all those who need them

·         Extent of education to the deprived by offering various courses in all parts of the nation at a reasonable cost

·         Encourage, organize and control the standards of education imparted through open and distance learning in the nation.
